All-Star Tryouts

2025 All-Star Tryouts @ Big Sky Park:

  • Monday, May 26th (Memorial Day), @ 4-5:30 PM on MJWSLL Field 3: 8-10 Baseball All-Star Tryout
  • Monday, May 26th (Memorial Day), @ 5:30-7 PM on MJWSLL Field 1: Little League (10-12) Baseball All-Star Tryout
These dates are subject to change, so please watch the website and your email.

At this time, the LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL (Little League Age 10-12 Year-Olds) and 8-10 BASEBALL (Little League Age 8-10 Year-Olds) are the only All-Star Divisions that we have coaches for.

If your player is unable to attend Tryouts, you need to email [email protected] so we can make alternate accommodations BEFORE the Tryouts.  Due to the timing to get everything pulled together for All-Stars, late Tryouts cannot be accommodated.  If your child becomes ill at the last minute and cannot attend, we need to be notified BEFORE the tryout start time for your player to be considered.

If your player is considering All Stars, please email [email protected] their Name, Date of Birth (mm/dd/yyyy) and all Divisions they want to be considered for.  Your email is not a commitment, just simply an indication of interest.  This will also speed up the tryout process.

All-Stars General Information

What is All-Stars?

All-Stars is a post-season tournament team made up of selected players who demonstrate strong skill, sportsmanship, and commitment. It’s a competitive and rewarding experience that requires dedication from both players and families. The following is a link on Little League's website which is also helpful:

What Parents Need to Know about All-Stars

The All-Star teams will use a continuous batting order, meaning all players on the roster will be included in the offensive lineup throughout the game. However, equal playing time in the field is not guaranteed. As this is a competitive team, defensive positions and playing time will be based on performance, effort, attitude, and the needs of the team. Coaches are committed to providing meaningful opportunities for each player while prioritizing the team’s ability to compete at a high level.

What Division is my Player Eligible For?

All-Stars is based on your player's League Age - not necessarily their actual age.  You can use the Little League Age Calculator to determine your player's league age.  Select Little League Baseball as the Sport and then populate your player's Birth Month and Year to determine their League Age.  Players are able to play up but they cannot play down.  For example, if your player is League Age 11, they are welcome to tryout for 9-11 and/or Little League (10-12) Baseball All-Star Teams, but they cannot tryout for 8-10 Baseball All-Star Team.  A player that is League Age 10 could tryout for the 8-10, 9-11 and Little League (10-12) Baseball All-Star Teams if desired.

Your player should tryout for ALL Divisions they would like to be considered for.  In the event you have a younger player trying out for an older division and they do not get selected for the older division team, they are not automatically considered for the younger division team(s) - they would need to tryout.  For example, if you have a player that is League Age 10 and they want to tryout for the Little League (10-12) Baseball All-Star Team, but if they are not selected for that team and they would like to be considered for the 8-10 Baseball All-Star Team, they would need to also tryout for the  8-10 Baseball All-Star Team.  If they are not selected for the Little League (10-12) Baseball All-Star Team and they did not try out for the  8-10 Baseball All-Star Team, they will not be selected for that team either.

What is the Financial & Time Commitment?

Please be aware that participating in All-Stars requires both a significant time and financial commitment.

The player fee for All-Stars is equal to the regular registration fee (excluding the fundraiser raffle fee). Additional expenses may include pants, various uniform accessories, and travel costs for Pool Play, District, State, and potentially further tournaments if the team advances.

From a time commitment standpoint, you can expect daily practices Monday through Thursday, beginning after the City Tournament and continuing for as long as the team remains in competition. Some coaches may also schedule two practices per day ("two-a-days"), depending on the Manager’s discretion. The goal of this intensive schedule is to maximize player reps and prepare the team for tournament play.

If you are unable to fully commit your player to this level of involvement, we respectfully recommend not trying out, so that the opportunity may go to a player who can fully dedicate themselves to the All-Star season.

What should my Player expect at Tryouts?

Please arrive early for Tryouts (30 mins before your Division), so you can get warm and be ready to go. Tryouts will not be spent warming up, but evaluating skills, so you want to ensure you are warm and ready to go.

When you arrive at Tryouts, you need to check in.  Your Player will be assigned a Number (similar to the Major & Minor Division Tryouts) that needs to be placed on their shirt.  This number MUST be visible to the Coaches during Tryouts.

What your player should expect at the Try Out:

  • Swings
  • Pitches
  • Ground Balls
  • Fly Balls
  • Base Running
  • All Things Baseball
Some questions you will need to answer during check-in:

  1. Jersey Size - Sizes run similar to their MJWSLL game jerseys
  2. First Name as it would be printed on any All-Star memorabilia
  3. Last Name as it will be printed on All-Star jerseys
  4. Top 3 number preferences.  Please discuss this with your player in advance - this is a hard question for some to answer on the fly.
  5. Any dates throughout the summer that will impact the player's ability to participate.

What  to Bring/Wear:

  • Baseball Pants - No Shorts (this is a Tryout, we encourage you to dress like a baseball player)
  • Mitt
  • Bat (if you have one - bats will be available)
  • Helmet (if you have one - helmets will be available)
  • Cleats
  • A love of the game and a whole lot of hustle
